Wetland Walkabout

  • ESNP Wetland (Summit Knobs Equestrian Trail parking lot) (map)
  • Google Calendar ICS

What is a wetland and what’s so special about it anyway?

Did you know Enterprise South Nature Park shelters a 40-acre, forever-protected wetland?

Join Save ESNP for a guided walk around the Volkswagen/ESNP wetland with Jared Odell, ecologist, Professional Wetland Scientist (PWS), and CEO/founder of Tierra Environmental Consulting.

We’ll talk about the history of the area, what defines a wetland, and what makes it a unique habitat. Jared will introduce us to some wetland botany, hydrology, and soil sampling, and we might identify a few birds and other special critters along the way if we’re lucky enough to have them in attendance.

When?

Saturday August 29th, 8am

Where?

Meet at the Summit Knobs Equestrian Trail parking lot. Google Maps.

Who for?

This program is free and open to the public, all-ages welcome. This is not a strenuous hike, we will be walking and stopping to talk and look at things along the way, totaling approximately 1-2 miles. The path is not stroller or wheelchair friendly.

Rosy Maple Moths Kids Club

  • Enterprise South Nature Park - Visitor Center (map)
  • Google Calendar ICS

The Rosy Maple Moths Little Ambassadors are kids who live or play in Hamilton County and want to see their parkland stay protected. Their work (play) is focused on advocacy, learning about local ecosystems, building community, and most importantly, having fun at Enterprise South Nature Park. The Rosy Maple Moths Little Ambassadors are the youngest defenders of the park, and definitely the cutest. Named after the Rosy Maple Moth found in Enterprise South Nature Park, this group will meet monthly on the third Tuesday of every month at 10:00 AM.

Each session will include storytime, an outdoor activity, and a take-home craft.

RSVP here!

Info for the grownups: Because we are a new group we are asking that you sign up ahead of time to make sure we have enough supplies.

Parents need to stay, we may get dirty, and please dress appropriately for the weather. No rain date. Follow our Instagram or Facebook for cancellation information. We will have waivers for each child to sign before the program.
